Katrina Wood was born in Kenya and spent her childhood on the slopes of Kilimanjaro on a wheat farm. Living in the US and UK since the mid seventies Katrina is still closely tied to Kenya and launched the Kenyan branch of the Prince's Youth Business Trust five years ago. A consultant in the entertainment industry she believes the Mediae Trust to be a fortunate link between her business life and her country of birth.
Sally Christensen is a Language Teacher who lived and taught in the slums of Nairobi and Mombasa in the seventies. She has worked in media in Singapore, California and the UK. She visits Kenya as often as she is able in order to keep in touch with the innovative work that the Mediae Trust undertakes in radio and television drama getting through important messages on preventative care in health, market economy in agriculture, and domestic gender issues amongst other matters. "I took on the role of Trustee as I feel confident that this Trust is really making some progress in enhancing the lives of urban and rural Africans and I hope I can contribute to this in some way."
David worked in the City for banks as a trader and fund manager for 21 years. Now he is quietly living in Wiltshire with his wife and 3 sons! He is now self-employed; trading and teaching courses on financial markets.
Carole is the Group HR Director for Eurasia and Africa (EAG) for the Coca-Cola Company, responsible for all aspects of human resources and a key member of the EAG leadership team. In addition to her HR leadership responsibilities, she also leads the Enabling Growth and Productivity Initiative throughout the Group. She likes to participate actively in community initiatives, particularly in support of the education and development of girls and young women.
Angela Holton has worked in programme administration in busy university and consultancy environments since 1989. She combines her work as Administrator of The Mediae Trust with her duties as Administrator of The Policy Practice, and the poetry magazine, Modern Poetry in Translation.
Simon Jack presents business and financial news on BBC Breakfast every morning on BBC1. Prior to that he worked as a reporter and presenter for Radio 4’s Today programme, BBC World Service, Radio Five Live and the BBC News Channel. Before becoming a journalist, he spent ten years in corporate and investment banking in Bermuda and New York. Simon studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at St Johns College, Oxford University. He lives in London with his wife Suzy and two children Phoebe and Florence.
Elaine Pyke is the Head of Drama for Sky1 Drama. Elaine joined Sky in 2004 and has since commissioned a variety of stand-out programmes including Mile High, Dream Team, Terry Pratchett’s The Colour Of Magic and Terry Pratchett’s The Hogfather, the two-time BAFTA award-winning drama. Following up on this success and Sky1’s commitment to British drama, Elaine has commissioned a number of high profile book adaptations for 2009 including ‘The Take’ and ‘Skellig’ and ‘STRIKEBACK’. Before joining Sky, Elaine spent some time in Kenya working with Mediae where she storylined and worked with the Kenyan team in scripting Makutanu Junction.
