The Trust (UK Registered Charity Number 1058701), is run by a board of six trustees and funds media initiatives in East Africa. Recently, for example, Mediae Trust have purchased a selection of nursing books to be placed at three nursing schools in Tanzania. They have also agreed to fund a competition corner within Pilika Pilika - a radio drama produced by Mediae Company, currently reaching 5.5 million rural Tanzanians.
In 2008 they contributed Ford Foundation funds to the production of a Kenyan television series called “School Shape Up” which looked at issues surrounding female education in the North Eastern part of Kenya. They have also supported the setting up and running of a local fm radio station in Tsavo National Park in Kenya. The Trust continues to support some of the activities undertaken by the Mediae Company.
