Makutano Junction and UK Schools
Mediae has been funded by DFID to take the drama series, Makutano Junction, and place it in UK secondary schools. Mediae, in collaboration with Just Ideas and Creatrix, have designed a funky, interactive website which is accessible to both teachers and students in the UK (www.makutanojunction.org.uk).
Teachers can download activities related to Makutano Junction that they can use in English, Geography, PSHE, Citizenship, RE, drama, Media Studies, and even art classes. The materials provide teachers with accessible material with which to incorporate the Global Dimension within the curriculum.
A recently conducted survey shows clearly, first how incredibly popular the show is with both teachers and also students and second, the beneficial and positive impact that Makutano Junction has had on encouraging students to become global citizens.
